Mrs Mary Poppendieck is a master of Lean software development. If you are interested in this topic, you can follow her work.

http://www.poppendieck.com/

If you search it in www.answers.com, you can find more information

http://www.answers.com/Lean+software+development?cat=technology&gwp=13

This is a book, where I got most of the information from

http://www.amazon.com/Lean-Software-Development-Agile-Toolkit/dp/0321150783

Hope this helps

Exactly, as Jason commented. In a typical manufacture company (fortunately I used to work in such a company as an HSE manager for two years), we had applied KanBan on the shop floor of each production line. In my IT project, we called Kanban as “Story wall”. All the 7 principles actually applied the idea of “Eliminating waste” in a production line or organization. Basically, the application of the other 6 principles kinda came to the same ending of “cut down waste” or “avoiding unnecessary effort”.

Note that those 7 principles are from Lean Software Development. That is, they are the Poppendieck's translation of Lean to software development.

This is not to say that it's a bad set of principles but it's still important to recognise that you won't see that list of principles in for example Lean Thinking or The Toyota Way.
